  19.   After a week of non-stop rendering of many (around 15) 200+ frame scenes, 
  20. from the Rev.C CD and LightROM1, I made a discovery about NT-AVI.
  21.   I was starting to get consistent crashes with certain scene files. I 
  22. believe I have found a definite bug in the NT-AVI plug-in.
  23.   It seems the Indeo codec is not useable for LW 4.0 under Win95. I get a 
  24. very serious crash with this codec, sometimes general fault and sometimes 
  25. locking the machine up totally. Also, if you try to re-load with the 
  26. scene, if you had saved AFTER picking the NT-AVI Indeo codec, it will 
  27. crash if you try to select <none> or AVI-32.
  28.   To fix this situation, load the scene file into a text editor, find the 
  29. line that says AnimType 3 and enter a 0, and save the scene file. Load 
  30. the scene back into Layout, now when you go to Record, there will be no 
  31. anim saver plug-in loaded. At this point, reselect the NT-AVI plug-in, 
  32. and THEN save the scene out again. Clear the scene, reload the scene, 
  33. select save anim, and the codec requestor should come back. At this 
  34. point, don't pick Indeo again or you will have to go through this process 
  35. again. At this time, the Cinepak codec seems to produce the best overall 
  36. image quality/file size tradeoff.
  37.   I have also found that the NT-AVI loader doesn't seem to like scene 
  38. files with re-directed directory paths,where you can pick an alternate 
  39. object/image/etc but it is actually the same object/image/etc under a 
  40. different directory path?  The fix is edit the scene file for the default
  41. directory path of the original scene.
